A tale of broken toe and bruised ego.

Recently a car ran over my foot, when I was on my way to office.  Though usually accidents synonym with my name, this time I'd to give in when the doctor ordered me to take X-ray of my right foot.
One look at the X-ray, doc announced - Minor fracture to the toe and 3-6 weeks of time for the bone to join back.  (I was expecting an hairline fracture, which is much cooler to announce) #sillyme.

And, I had to call my hero a.k.a my bro, to escort the damsel-with-broken-toe.

but, having grown up with him from the time he is born, I soon realised, what he must have heard.

Nevertheless, my most trustworthy hero of all times, was near my office to pick me, within minutes.  The concerned look on his face multiplied my love towards him #proudsisme :D

In more than 5 years of riding two-wheeler, though I've fallen many times, I have never had a fracture.  With my bruised ego, when I'd to stay at home for a week, the reactions from people were:

"A car ran over your foot? Tyre puncture hua kya?" - #devil1

"Met with an accident? Car ko kuch hua kya?" - #devil2

"I heard you got your toe fractured. Why there is no cast? I so wanted to sign on that :(" - #Disappointed1

"Why the car driver is not suing you?" - #Disappointed2

"Showing off with your broken toe, eh! Let's put a toll here and I'll be the cashier" - #opportunist

"oh god! another 1 lakh rupees extra burden to your dad" - devil3

and someone who heard the news after couple of days "hey party time! Why didn't you inform us earlier? We are gonna celebrate" - #Sadist1

Sigh!! How would I even live, without these silly idiots called friends in my life who make me laugh in the worst of my times and not to forget the friend who wanted to deliver the medicine to my doorstep, friends who came home with loads of chocolates knowing very well that it's my medicine for any given time and took me out for ice-cream treat and so-on. #feeling-grateful

Forwards!?! Think again..

Information is all around us, thanks to Technology.  But how often do we go just a step ahead and check the authenticity of the info we get, esp in case of forward messages.

Not trusting the message I get, makes me feel bad about my skepticism.  Nevertheless, when I cross checked, I felt it was worth the effort.

1. Recently a pic of July calendar was posted on FB, claiming that to be a Money bag as per Feng Shui.

                                            Do I have to say more?

2. I often get forwards from my friends for the need of Blood and they even give the contact no, if someone is willing to donate.
This is something which I hate to doubt, but of more than 100 such messages I’ve received; only one happened to be an active contact no.  Yes, the phone nos given in most of the times are fake ones.  Such messages are as good as forwarding god’s pic with the threat of poverty/other difficulties in life, if you don’t forward further.

3.   Cure for Blood Cancer at Adyar Institute.

But, the fact is:
"Imitinef Mercilet" is apparently an alternative spelling of the cancer drug, Imatinib mesylate. It is true that Imatinib (or "Imitinef") is available free of charge for patients who have been admitted to the Adyar Cancer Institute hospital for cancer treatment. However, the Institute is not handing out the drug freely to all as suggested in the message. Moreover, the drug does not actually cure all blood cancers as claimed in the message.  Info from (http://www.hoax-slayer.com/free-blood-cancer-medicine.shtml)

4. Help line numbers:

None of the phone numbers in this forward message is valid.

5. Calling 1098 in case of excess food in your party/function.

The message we often get is :
Please CHECK WASTAGE OF FOOD
If you have a function/party at your home in India and food gets wasted, don't hesitate to  call 1098 (only in India ) - Its not a Joke, This is the number of Child helpline.
They will come and collect the food. Please circulate this message which can help feed many children.

But Childline India (1098) on their website childlineindia.org.in very clearly states that:
Warning : We understand there is a chain mail circulating that says - one should call up 1098 to pick up left over food after a party etc so that it is not wasted. This is not true. We are India 's only and most widespread Children's phone emergency outreach service (1098) for children in need of care and protection. We do not pick up food or distribute food. This mail was not initiated by us, kindly do not circulate it. Your cooperation is appreciated.

6. AIDS through paani puri.

One mail which all of us, for sure have received at least once and obviously the most ridiculous one.
A good explanation found in this write up at : http://lavannya.blogspot.in/2006/05/aids-and-paani-puri.html

7. Coughing helps in case of Heart Attack.

Everyone seem to think that, if one gets a heart attach when alone at home, coughing would put the heart on right track. But please beware, anyone trying this would only be coughing to death.

The simple reason, as I learned in First Aid training, is that during a heart attack patient's heart should be kept calm than to stress it with heavy coughing, in simple words, "just worsening the heart attack".
More details : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cough_CPR

For the love of their life,  please please, PLEEEAASE don't suggest Cough CPR to near and dear ones.

Enough being said, I conclude not to believe all the forwards, unless the info is verified.

Here is a funny statement by a Chain Forward Victim:
"Made some hundred wishes before forwarding those Ganesha, Tirupathi Balaji, Sai Baba pics.  Now most of those wishes are married to someone else" ;)

Bliss or Pain?

 Feels many miles away,
Though sitting in arms reach,
Love is Blissful pain.

Poster Mania

When BBMP decided to paint Bangalore city roadside walls, no doubt, like every Bangalorean I was happy.  (Not just for the beauty it adds to the city and the amt of opportunity it provides to the artists, but also hoping that the footpaths will not be treated as toilets anymore).

But, as the same walls were my great source of updates on new movies, I knew that I would miss the joy of watching the movie posters while traveling.
The posters stuck on the roadside are a world by itself.  I somehow had the uncanny ability to decide if a movie is watchable, just by looking at those posters.

Though the whole idea posters are to tell a bit about the theme, and majorly about the theaters and show-timings (very important when asklaila or bookmyshow were unheard of), if one observed carefully,
         - it would convey director's aesthetic sense and creativity,
         - depending on the areas, the posters are mostly stuck - we would know if it's class or mass or an art movie, and
         - by the paper and the print quality, one can easily guess the movie budget :D
(I majorly decided on the movie watch-worthiness on these criteria, in the same order ;) ).

The recent posters I noticed, are Dandupalya (Kannada) and Gangs of Wasseypur (Hindi) and both are Crime-genre movies.  While Gangs of Wasseypur posters instill curiosity, all that I could see in Dandupalya posters is "watch-movie4-pooja-gandhi-skin-show-ness".  Even though I'm interested in watching movies based on real-life stories, I'll be happy with fiction this time.

In couple of other incidents too, posters have really helped me to stay away from the movie.  Here are some of such posters.

The Creative head probably couldn't think of anything apart changing the dance step (both are in mid-air though). Jeans & White shirt and even the bike remained the same.  Raam movie poster copies from Aarya-2.

This poster of Sanju weds Geethaa has no relevance to the story.  Yet, the hawt-ness of the Kites poster had to be copied. Sigh, the dress matches here too!!

This poster of Dashamukha obviously tops the list of Copy-Paste-Zindabad.  When I heard that, the famous "12 Angry Men" movie being remade in kannada, I was skeptical. This particular poster removed all my doubts and made me stay away from the theatre hall.

Sigh! Creativity rocks!

Dilemma

I was nervous.

Parents had stepped out for couple for hours and I'd got that perfect freedom at home after a long time.

Within moments I'd made that call and he promised he'll be at my place soon.

It had been many many months and I had been longing for it.

I know I shouldn't have called in the first place.

Dad & mom were very much against it and I was feeling the guilt of betrayal.

Time was ticking away and he had not turned up as early as I expected him to be.

Nervousness was slowly turning into fear, as I thought what if dad & mom comes back home early!!

They obviously wouldn't like it, and how will I even gain their trust back, if I'm caught in act!? :(

I'd to choose, I'd come out of the dilemma.

As I slowly gathered up my courage, I heard,,

*Trring, Trring
Trring, Trring*

I was immensely happy and could feel my heart beating faster.

As I opened the door, there stood a delivery boy with my favorite Pizza.

Guilty or not,
Just love cheese-burst pizza,
OM NOM NOM!

(from the diaries of a fat-n-proud girl)

I'm a woman

I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again....

You can bend but never break me
'cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger
Not a novice any longer
'cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul!

Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to I can face anything
I am strong
I am invincible
I am woman.

Fantasy vs. Reality

(for all the Harry Potter Fans)

Situation 1 * Locked Door welcomes me, when I'm back home.
Fantasy: Alohomora
Reality: Over the phone "Hellooooo,, Hello Amma,, where are the keys?"

Situation 2 * Half way in to sweet dreams, and lazy to get up from bed.
Fantasy: Nox
Reality: Mom's lecture in the morning, for sleeping without turning the lights off! :P

Situation 3 * Mom's gyaan sessions (obviously for some of my blunders, like the one above),,
Fantasy: Quietus
Reality: I've even tried pressing the mute button at her, but, n
othing worked so far, !!

Situation 4 * A happy evening stroll, in a calm street, and spot a dog running towards me.
Fantasy: Locomotor Mortis
Reality: I would be the one, who will have legs bound, as though, the curse is back-fired. (for-a-fact, I can't walk again, till the animal is out of my sight)

Situation 5 * One of my kitchen blunders, whenever mom is out of town.
Fantasy: Reparo
Reality: Wipe the kitchen clean and remove the damaged things. And buy a new one and keep it back in the place, so that mom doesn't get a hint of what I did.

Situation 6 * Trying to learn juggling, with my mobile, and as usual I miss catching it :(
Fantasy: Reparo
Reality: Take help from people who can fix !! :(

Situation 7 * Mundane tasks which bores me to death!
Fantasy: Scourgify
Reality: Stop dreaming and clean the house.

The only sigh factor is, when you are in a dark room, hold out your mobile like a wand and say "Lumos" (and also press a button on the mobile), which emits a small beam of light, for a shortwhile ;P

Hail Politicians!!

As a kid, I was very much interested in Indian Politics (yep, I was a nut-case!!)
But, later as I learnt about the corruption, dirty politicians, their crime background, I withdrew myself from any political updates...

But, with the happenings around, this is one of the most horrible things I realized...

not that I like any political parties,,,
Royal Family, Princess, Prince... my foot!!

Naa Naguva Modalene...

Another Lyrics time..

Movie: Manasaare
Lyrics: Yograj Bhat
Music: Mano Murthy
Singer: Shreya Goshal

One of the mesmerizing song with wonderful lyrics, catchy music, sweet voice, hawty artists and cute-romantic choreography...

Na naguva modalene minugutide yaako hosa mugulu nage
Na nudiva modalene todalutide hrudayavidu olagolage
Na nadeva modalene eleyutide dari idu ninnedege
Na ariva modalene uriyutide deepavidu nannolage
Ondu baari helu mellage yaaru yaaru nee nanage

Na naguva modalene minugutide yaako hosa mugulu nage

Tilisade nanage hudukide ninna nannaya kannu
Sihi sankata saakagide munde yenu
Kalitide manavu kuniyuvudannu kandare neenu
Naanu nanna paadigiralu yaake kande nee nanage

Na naguva modalene minugutide yaako hosa mugulu nage

Kanavarikeyali ninnaya hesara karehithe hrudaya
Nanagetake nana meleye e samshaya
Bare kanasinale aguve yeke nannaya iniya
Helu omme helu iduve priti endu nee nanage

Na naguva modalene minugutide yaako hosa mugulu nage
Na nudiva modalene todalutide hrudayavidu olagolage
Na nadeva modalene eleyutide dari idu ninnedege
Na ariva modalene uriyutide deepavidu nannolage
Ondu baari helu mellage yaaru yaaru nee nanage

( I always feel this song is an apt girl's solo love song as answer to "Mungaru Maleye" song from Mungaru Male -- well, the same Yograj Bhat n Mano Murthy combi has worked for that song. Take a bow, master)

A very sweet morning!!!

Pillow hugs me tight,

Doesn't let me see the morning,

I travel in dreams..

Thru the closed eyes,

I see you, looking back at me,

With a smirk on face..

Lingers, on my lips,

Memories of shared sweetness,

Lightening a coy smile..

Thousands memories,

Keeping my dreams very awake,

I thought, it's Happiness..

And,

as I roll in joyous sleep,

Held me in an embrace,

Your soft caressing hands,

Oh, reality is so beautiful

n such is bliss…

Sweet Nothings ;)

I am a girl....

Yes...... I'm a girl....:-)

I push doors that clearly says PULL :-)

I laugh harder when I try to explain why I 'm laughing :-D

I walk into a room and forget why I was there B-)

I count on my fingers when doing maths :-p

I try to accomplish things with time still on the microwave :-/

I lie sometime to hide the pain :-(

I cry a lot more than you think I do ;-(

I am not so strong as my smile seems to be :-)

I get attached to peopl who care even a little about me

A broken nail is as painful as a broken heart ;-)

I say its a long story when it's really not :-x

I fall in love too hard.. too fast... :-/

I just need one warm hug, EVERYTIME.... <3

I may look tom-boyish, but I want my love to treat me as girl... ;)

And I always care more than I can :-)

Yes, I'm a Girl and I.m proud of it..... :-D

Symptoms of falling in love and .....

* Not able to have food properly!

* Not having proper sleep in the night!

* When you are out with friends, you still feel some part of you, has been left behind!

* Always look like as though lost in thoughts!

* Not being able to have discussion with people about deep things (& normal things too)!

* Palms are sweaty coz of nervousness!

* Irrespective of the hot temperature outside, one still shivers!

* Not being able to do the normal day-to-day things accurately!

* You've only one thought on your mind!

and

* dil always goes hmmmm!!!!

What the heck!! Who said these symptoms are just for "Falling in Love"!!
Sure gonna have the same symptoms, if you've your exams just around the corner, and if you've never touched the books!! (But, still hoping to come off with flying colors)

Me having these symptoms, doesn't mean I love my exams :)

Of Course, I Love You..!

Debashish's Love, Sex & Dhoka Story

PS: All the numerous girlfriends before Devika & Smriti are ignored for obvious reasons (Space issue in the Graph :D )

PPS: If you add, couple of lousy characters with hundreds of "F" words, assume you've already finished reading the book.

PPPS: Desperate attempts to tell the readers that Deb & Avantika's sex relationship is True Love, will usually have no effect on any!!

PPPPS: I felt bad for Tanmay, as both his sister and his girlfriend try to hit on Deb!!

PPPPPS: If the author intended to write about his college and placement story, he has horribly deviated from the topic.

PPPPPPS: Not all are Chetan Bhagat

I'm bored of writing anymore PP....Ss!!

But must say, "Of Course, I Love You..!! till I find someone better" the lousiest book I ever read!

As a kid...

  • I thought English was a subject, and I had no reason to study!!
  • And, “Arts” in college meant, painting/drawing/sketching.. and I felt it was too cool..
  • I was shy, silent and was always daydreaming!! (Nope, I was never chashmish girl :D)
  • I was so damn hooked to the books/novels,,
  • As in those fairy tales, I thought we can actually sit on the cloud!!
  • Any place which I’d not seen, meant a wonderland for me.. I’d imagined a big thick forest with wonderful falls, near our school (right in the center of Bangalore!!)..
  • Anyone, whom I’ve not seen and spoken to, is superhuman being with limitless un-earthen talents. (My imagination those days, would put even Shaktimaan, Superman, Batman, Spiderman et al to shame :D)..Exception to this was my teachers – they were any day super human beings, coz they knew everything there in the book..
  • I knew the secret for Phantom being immortal and I felt so proud that I wouldn’t share the secret with any ;)
  • Wondered why the water in the sea doesn’t spill when the earth is rotating!!
  • Cardamom, Orange, Banana, Apple were manufactured in factory!! And I found the finishing marvelous..
  • When I first read about Black hole, I hoped Sun will also get that aged one day, and then I could have those few extra mins of sweet sleep, as mom would think it is still night!! :D
  • I heard the word "Financial Regulations" in news, and I thought it meant, all the bank officials will go on shopping spree with Govt money..

Growing up at times, has a disadvantage.. It makes us come out the blissful world we, as kids, created around ourselves.. I’ve surely grown beyond the thoughts mentioned above. But coming to think of it, the world was a happier place then.

And I believe, it’s the kids, from whom we actually should learn what is to be keen on learning always, to accept completely, the pure love, to laugh heartily, to be non-judgmental, to be unbiased and list goes on…….

And, I'm sure, even you'll had some weird thoughts/ideas, as a kid.. Come on!!Share with everyone :)

~~~~~
PS: Thanks to Sonu and Geetha, I recently heard the tracks from the movie "Sanju weds Geetha" and loved it.. Here is the title track from the movie..
Minor Details...
Well, I'm not talking about the movie, but about the movies!!
I've a penchant for observing the minutest details in movies... Bloopers can be many.. Even the great movies like Titanic, Inception, 3 Idiots are packaged with few glitches… While these are realized by an easy open eyes, which makes us laugh…….There are few other noteworthy things in some movies, which makes us open our eyes wide open!!
Like,
In the movie Kaminey, the very first dialogue delivered by Sweety (Piggy Chops) is actually a path-breaking step in the History of Indian Cinema.. Her line is "Aakhir naiya doob hi gayi".. Which Indian Heroine till then ever told the hero, that she is pregnant for his baby, even before marriage, as an opening line... Only PeeFee could do that!! [In fact, that movie has so many other titbits, erotic at times, through out the movie, waiting for the keen eyes to bring them out...]
In the movie Jab we met, Aditya Kashyap (Shahid Kapoor) has a very silent entry and starts his train journey for his own reasons, only to open his mouth after some 15 minutes and tell Geet (Kareena) - "tum ho meri problem!".. wooww.. but that's not the way movie continues! :)
In the movie Rang de basanti, the very first and last sentence which Karan (Siddarth) mutters is "Nautanki Saala" and both the times, it’s told about DJ (Aamir).. (Liked his dialogue delivery issshtyle! :) )
In “Dil Chahta Hai”, the words with which Akash (Aamir) proposes Shalini (Preity), in the beginning of the movie for fun and the actual proposal at the end, are same!! “"shalini main tumse aur sirf tumse pyar karta haun..mere haar sanse, haar dhadkan,haar paal main tum ho aur srif tum ho..mujhe yaakin hain main sirf is liye janma hoon ke tumse mil sakoon..aur tum sirf is liye ki ekdin meri baan jao...tum mere ho shalini..aur agar tum apni dil se puchogi..to jaan logi..ki main such keh raha hoon...” (ussshoooo, fultoo romantic :D)
In the movie, "Hum Apke Hai Kaun", neither Prem (Salman) nor Nisha (Madhuri) say I love you, to each other... (watch the movie again, if you've doubts ;) )... One of the most beautiful love story in Indian Cinema with out the lovelee 3 words :)
No doubt, 3 idiots is one of the incredibly brilliant movies, but, till now, I've not understood, why the kid wore the space suit in the Skitsal school ground, that too in the hot sun!!… Can anyone tell me! :)
Well, this one is a very long pending post! What triggered me to write now, is the same observation!
While writing my previous post, the Britannia Time pass ad which is part of the post, caught my attention and made me watch all the other Britannia Time Pass ads
Here are couple of them...
The clue is very much given in this post itself… Hope you recognize … :)
Around the Cricket God!!
Saw the Padma Awardees list, and happy that few of the deserving have got in!! The award has really not lost its worth completely!..
The one which I liked the most is Dr.S.P.Balasubramanyam for Padma Bhushan. I almost worship him :) It’s not just the talent/genuis which makes him great, but the modesty and simplicity which he carries makes my idol, a super star.
He is one singer who has got state awards in most of the languages he has sung. In fact, the Karnataka Govt., literally rejected the award, for the very reason that he not a kannadiga by birth (whatte crap thought by the state!! SPB is divine…. No one gives him an award, they are only honored to do it!!,,. ) And, I, very religiously checked out the state awardees list, every year, till one fine day, I found what I was looking for!!! Even to this day, I remember my happiness in that moment!!
Padma Bhushan for Shri Rudrapatna Krishna Shastry Srikantan, is a very pleasant surprise. He hails from Rudrapatna, a village with rich music heritage. (I would be as much happy as I’m now, irrespective who from that place is felicitated: D , undying respect for Rudrapatna Brothers). The 2 famous musical concerts during Ramanavami are, one in Fort High School, Bangalore and the other is in Rudrapatna, Hassan. What makes Rudrapatna more appealing is the very fact that, for few of the concerts, the stage is simply a "teppa" in middle of river. Listening to fav music, by great musicians, in the moon light and on the banks of Kaveri,,,,, ooh, just the thought, makes me feel ecstatic!!
And the most disappointing one is…….
In spite of so many appealing, recommendations sent by his peers, colleagues, other sportsmen, fans followings, the so called thinkers and even the PMO (basically everyone who appreciates his contributions to cricket), he has not been chosen for Bharat Ratna.. Yes, I’m speaking about the very Indian and The Cricket God, Sachin Tendulkar, and the prime reason why I looked at the list…
When almost everyone thought its right age for Sachin to retire, he came back with a bang, an ever fantasy of every batsman, an unbeatable double century in One day cricket. And the following words, as cited in ICF , so suits his show, not just on that day, but every master piece performance in his career…
"Give a top class artist a canvas. Give him a room and give him a vista. See what he comes up with. For the art produced thereof we credit the artist himself; not the canvas for its whiteness and blankness. Not the room for the comfort it offered. Not even the vista for its having conveniently presented itself. They are all incidental. Art is transcendental. So too is Tendulkar's batting. "
And here is a poem, a must read, by one of my blogger friend about Sachin Tendulkar, a dedication when he completed 20 years (whoaaa!) in the game..
The Little Master
Poise Glows,
Greatness Speaks.
The Willow Caresses.
White or Red it be,
Greeting the leather With,
An Ever So Beautiful Stroke.
Twenty Years,
Spent In a Zillion Overs.
A nation's hopes on his Shoulders.
Him Driving Off and On,
We Win Or We Lose,
Victory Is already Ours.
He Stands along with a Few,
Who nurture our Hope,
Who Humble Us,
Who Unite Us.
What He Has Given,
We Know No One can ever,
As they say,
If the sport be a religion,
He Is God.
Greatness Speaks,
Poise Glows,
The Willow Caresses.
----------------------------
An Ode to the man,
20 years for India.
If Cricket was A game of One,
We are champions Over and Over.
Forever.
No offence intended, Mr.Shashi Kapoor has been awarded Padma Bhushan this year, whereas he is officially retired ages ago. Shouldn’t people be considered for their achievements and rewarded, when they are in the peak of their performance and not sometime later……And, about Sachin, one of the reason we hear is, he is still very young (compared to other awardees!! Grrr,,,), but, whether we like it or not, he’ll retire one fine day, and now is the time to confer!! (hmmm I understand, why people think this award is loosing its worth in the years!!)
Well, World cup season is just around the corner, and as usual, I’m gonna support the Indian Team (needless to say, eh :P ) … I agree Sachin can do wonders, but can’t expect the miracle from Indian team always, as I found, few names in the team this time, are there as part of the management quota (shame!! ) , I only pray my team to perform at their best and I hope to enjoy the great sport.
Flashback time:
The very word “World cup” makes me feel nostalgic.. taking me back to the “League of students” days. It was the name, which I was attracted to, in the beginning. I was lucky enough to live in a typical Vatara (found in old Bangalore areas), and all the kids residing there get a free membership to the League: D.
Eat, Play, watch TV, movies…., heaven was life!! As part of League’s activities, we participated in the summer and winter games, (we had our own tournaments, of carom, chess, other music competitions, quiz and many more).. Having fun was more important than winning it!! And we did it.
The sigh factor for all the elders was, they always knew, kids are always in company, and would be in any of those various houses in the lane.. We all jammed up in one house and watched numerous movies.. .ohooo!! :D ,
And it’s in those days I watched my first World Cup tournament, 1995. No one could stand those hooting and shouting during the match, and the effect: elders never preferred to watch any matches with the kids: D :P (very understanding parents ;) )
We burnt crackers when Jadeja saved India team in Quarter finals against Pakistan, we cried when we horribly lost the match against Srilanka in semis!!
And, in the next season, when India team made hilarious score and defeated the same Srilanka team by 157 runs, we danced!! Typical jumba laka :D
Phew! Watching world cup can never be so much fun ever again!!
*************************************************************************************
And, for all the fun loving people...
